A Tale of Two Americas

Remember that lecherous dude who ran for President not so long ago?  Yeah, that John Edwards guy. One of his staple tropes was about what he liked to call "Two Americas". The crux of this idea was that there were two very different Americas, one very rich (like him!), and one very poor. The whole thing was designed to make poor (and middle class) people envious of the rich. It was disgusting how he tried to pit Americans against each other in his attempt to garner votes.

I want to point you to this amazing video by Bill Whittle. In it he also talks about "Two Americas", but his version of Two Americas is not about rich vs.poor, it's about the honest, decent, generous, kind America, vs. the unfeeling, unthinking, uncompassionate, America that we see in popular media and news media on a daily basis.

This video is long, but I think you'll find it much more worthwhile than watching another sitcom rerun or sports show. As an extra enticement, he spends a couple of minutes (starting at around 8:00 or so) talking about his visit to Welfare Square not long ago. If you don't have time to watch now, get to it soon, because it will only be available for free viewing for the next few days. And, if you don't get a little choked up at some point in this video, then I'll give you your money back.

Nate getting choked up when no hobbits are in the movie? I had to watch. :) Certainly worth all 16 minutes!

Is Bill Whittle LDS? That was the best/most concise explanation of fast offerings and the Church Welfare System I have ever heard.
